Directors Backgrounds
The Chairman of the board of Directors of Sechaba Trust, Dr Mathole Motshekga, was admitted as an attorney in 1979. He served as a senior lecturer at UNISA in the faculty of law for ten years. Dr Motshekga spearheaded the Mega City and District Councils debates while he was the chairperson of the Standing Committee on Development Planning and Local Government in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature. He was the co-chairperson of the Legal and Constitutional Commission of the Local Government Negotiating Forum ( LGNF ) which drafted the Local Government Transition Act as well as Chapter 10 of the Interim Constitution. He is a founder member of the National Children's Rights Commission and assisted in the establishment of the largest black-led public interest law firm, known as the National Institute for Public Interest Law and Research ( Nipilar ) which still runs more than 20 offices nationwide. Dr Motshekga also served as the Premier of the Gauteng Province. The other two directors, being Hennie Botha ( previously from Van Zyl Le Roux & Hurter ) and Cloete Murray ( previously from Limvaal Trustees ), have 20 years of direct experience in the insolvency and liquidation fields. They have been and are appointed as liquidators/trustees in hundreds of matters ranging from the administration of the insolvent estates of individuals to large companies in all business fields. They have a reputation of trustworthy, hands-on administrators and enjoy the support of all the major financial institutions in the country. They both have excellent reputations with the Master of the High Court and are regularly commended by the Master for their efficiency and expertise.
